Menswear Spring/Summer 2010

The world of fashion seems to the untrained eye, are dominated by Womenswear collections. A frequently heard complaint of the male species, is the lack of menswear shops on the high street compared to the ladies and accessories. Fashion Weeks now ‘mensday “to compensate for this perceived lack of promotion and awareness of Mens Fashion.

Who is a good example?

The world of TV or film, you are an advertising agency on Madison Avenue kind of guy the BBC Four hit series Mad Men? Or the smooth, suave yet adventure driven Daniel Craig as James Bond? From the world of celebrities are the clean cut, for Jude Law? Or the somewhat brutal, but Bang on trend stubble wearing David Beckham?

Mens’ styling always used to be the search for status, but nowadays it is more about emulating your own personality and presenting yourself and your ambition. Especially in a time of economic downturn, his men on the track circuit always want their clothes to speak for themselves and their CV.

Spring / Summer 2010

This spring and summer is watching an image described by Dries Van Noten like ‘clothing are decorative and functional they are (QCStyle Issue 10, 2010). For many men it’s all about personal style, but also a desire for what is “current / on trend”. High Street stores are getting more adventurous with menswear and become the modern trends. There is a distinction between emulation of menswear designs which, for the fashion show collections come alive on the streets.

What are the key trends for spring / summer 2010?

For the brave polo enthusiast, Ghent – pinstripe suits, sensible shirts, a hint of color where needed.

Classic menswear with clean uncomplicated lines. dominated by the navy, black, gray limestone and painted bright colors to bring a boost to the collection.

A little rougher around the edges. Taking the pastels trend with a masculine twist. Individual tailoring and soft fabrics.

Derhy – Fabulous French Fashion House

Fashion is the second largest sector in the world, after dinner. If a fruit importer I feel my work is done for the first sector, so here I would like to open up my work for the second largest industry and present the wonderful brand that is Derhy.

Derhy over the years has transformed into a “creation Corporation. The Paris fashion house led by Yvette and Rene Derhy, which is surrounded by wonderful stylists. I found them in a supplement to Elle magazine and was immediately sold. Derhy is positioned between the luxury and mass market feminine, romantic pieces with an ethnic twist.

Their Spring / Summer collection consists of beautiful smooth lines, highlighted this season neutrals and masters Flowers in a real classy way.

Twitter is for me a great social networking opportunity to learn about new deisgners, boutiques, websites, something fresh, funky and go places. This week I met the great new website that was launched earlier this year.

Umbrella lady who have some unique and quirky women’s t-shirts designed by the Spanish artist Elena Montes Casado. Umbrella lady in Dublin, Ireland. They literally have their site launched on January 20 and have been shipped around the world their first week. They are now also stock tees FAB in the very stylish and trendy Emma Boutique in Dublin.

The t-shirts have their leading lady, Lady Umbrella in a variety of scenes and scenarios with a variety of her feathered friends. Umbrella lady came to be, when Elena, their Spanish designer, arrived in Dublin from Madrid and was surrounded by streets filled with people who umbrellas – an unknown site. The umbrellas obscured and hidden peoples faces and the idea for Lady Umbrella was born. There is a story behind each individual T-shirt designs.

It started with bacon sarnies, good coffee and Sky Sports News the man in my life and quickly moved to a rendezvous in the afternoon at Charing Cross with my good friend Kathryn. According to Somerset House, we swept for the London Fashion Weekend. Gold tickets for priority passes in hand and we were quickly escorted to our seats for the catwalk show, with a healthy taste for champagne cocktails on the road.

The catwalk show was awash with sharp shoulders statement of Bernard Chandran, Alice + Olivia and Reem. With a gorgeous Black Feather shoulders, little black dress by Lipsy (who knew that would mark assets!). We had a fantastic sequel to that printing Issa, maritime and Jean Pierre Braganza. I will certainly investigate the Issa label for on-trend, bold pieces for the office.

Miu Miu is expanding in Italy lately. The brand, which is part of the Prada empire, recently opened a shop in Bologna and in Forte dei Marmi. The last hole in Porto Cervo, resort in the north of Sardinia, which finds its port filled with luxury yachts this time of years.

The name of the collection is taken in the nicknames of Miuccia Prada and offers clothing and accessories that are often a bit more playful than the standard range Prada. Miu Miu stores often open with exclusive editions and this is no exception, take a look at the two-Porto Cervo exclusives after the jump.
